Obituary

Deborah F. Keane, 72, passed away on June 15, after a brief battle with cancer and Alzheimer's. Deb was born in Georgia, daughter of the late Daniel and Barbara (Rowley) French. She was an Army brat, spending time in Georgia, Hawaii, and Virginia before graduating from McLean High and moving back to Massachusetts to join her extended family. She later earned her degree from Endicott College. After time spent in PA and Maryland, she raised her children in Longmeadow, worked for years in the medical transcription field and was well known for carting her kids around every hockey rink and sports field in New England. Deb was a party host, famous for her monkey bread, crab hors d'oeuvres, and always making sure everyone at the table said "cheers" when the drinks came out. She never met a stranger, always stopped to say hello, and often found herself "taking the scenic route," whenever she got lost. Deb was full of kindness, only left the house with her nails done and hair just right and she never showed up anywhere empty handed. She enjoyed watching her children play sports and chauffeuring their friends in her famous red mini van for years on end. Deb loved to tease, tell stories that were far too long, enjoyed going out for a "quick bite", and was a self proclaimed chocoholic. More than anything, she loved quality time with her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. Deb is survived by her children, Brian and wife Laura, Sean, Tyler and wife Emily, and Kelly. She leaves her adored grandchildren, Griffin, Mackenzie, Colin, Cameron, Riley, Chloe, and George. She also leaves her brother David. Deb was funny, loyal, saw the good in others and always had a smile on her face. We will miss the stories, how excited she would get for small world interactions and her jokes but mostly, her unconditional love. In lieu of flowers, please take the long way home, stop and say hi to an old friend, and always say yes to the dessert menu. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Family and friends are invited to St Mary's Church, 519 Bliss Road, Longmeadow, MA for funeral Liturgy on Thursday at 1pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
