Delores M. Doe
1934 – 2015
WEST SPRINGFIELD – Delores M. "Dutch" (Jackowski) Doe, 81, of West Springfield, continued her journey home on June 30, 2015 with her three children and family by her side. She was born March 7, 1934 in Chicopee to the late Martin and Mary (Bednarz) Jackowski. A graduate of Commerce High School, she has lived in West Springfield all her adult life. Delores worked for the Springfield Armory, as a personal secretary for Eddie Shore and the Springfield Indians and co-owned, with her late husband Gilbert E. Doe Sr., Tri-County Sales of Northampton. After retiring, she enjoyed part time employment with friends at Patsy's Restaurant and Clark's Gulf both of West Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Delores loved vacationing by the ocean with family and friends, bowling, her orchids and roses, reading, watching the birds, cooking, knitting, playing cards and computer games. She appreciated watching her children and grandchildren playing sports. Delores took great pride gathering with her family and friends around the holidays, especially making pierogi's at Christmas. She was a supporter of the West Springfield Youth Sports Association along with many other non-profit organizations. She was predeceased by her best friend, soul mate, and husband of 35 years Gilbert E. Doe Sr. and her beloved son Greg Doe. She will be deeply and lovingly missed by her two sons Gilbert E. Doe Jr and Christine Doe, Jeffrey M. Doe and his wife Kathryn Doe, her daughter Melissa M. Doe-Largay and her husband Michael P. Largay and five beloved grandchildren Bryan J. Doe, Spencer J. Doe, Mathew G. Doe, Carly M. Doe and Jacob P. Largay, along with three great granddaughters. She also leaves her sister Maryjane Knupp of Illinois, several nieces and nephews and her two dear friends Patty Salvator and Lorrie Casey. Besides her husband and son, she was predeceased by two sisters Estelle Murat and Helen Mantia. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Springfield Youth Sports Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Rays of Hope.
