WEST SPRINGFIELD-Diana M. (Porcelli) Hanson, 90, died August 3, 2012 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. She was born in Somerville, MA, daughter of the late Louis and Antoinette (DiMilla) Porcelli and grew up in Medford. She attended the Boston Conservatory of Music. At the age of 21, Diana left home to join the Navy WAVES and served as a legal secretary at the Norfolk Naval Base. She was retired from Mercy Hospital where she worked as an executive secretary and she was also a member of the Ramapogue Woman's Club and served as president of the Tatham School PTA. She and her husband operated the SNACK SHACK at the BIG E from 1954 until 1999. She leaves two sons, Howard H. Hanson Jr. and Ronald S. (Ron) Hanson, both of West Springfield, a daughter Diane (Toni) Kmec of Agawam, a brother Louis A. Porcelli and his wife Anne of New Hampshire, five grandchildren, Christopher Hanson and his wife Maria of Southboro, Michael Kmec and his wife Lori of Marlborough, CT, Jeffrey Hanson and his wife Cynthia of Framingham, Matthew Kmec and his financee Karen Knapp of Meriden, CT and Elizabeth Hanson of Northboro, three greatgrandchildren Eric, Ella and Riley Hanson and four nieces and nephews. Her husband Howard H. Hanson and her granddaughter Jennifer Hanson predeceased her. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 8th, from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by committal services with military honors at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA, at 3:00 P.M.
