Dominica "Micky" Curran

Holyoke – Dominica "Micky" (Brzys) Curran, 94, formerly of Longmeadow died Sunday at Mary's Meadow in Holyoke, where she recently became a resident. Micky was born in Springfield and lived in Longmeadow most of her life. She was a Foreman for the Rex Chain Belt Company (Rexnord) for 30 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Longmeadow and longtime member of St. Mary's Guild. Her husband Joseph P. Curran died in 2005. She leaves a stepson Joseph Curran and his wife Dian of Feeding Hills; nephews and niece Norman and Ruth Michaud of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Robert and Elinor Michaud of Palm Bay, FL, Kenneth and Debra Curran of West Springfield, Kevin and Sharon Curran of Millersville, MD, Richard and Sandi Driscoll of Plymouth, and Annemarie and Richard Oliminski of Springfield. She also leaves her step grandchildren Mark and Barbi Curran, Eileen Curran, Sharon and Frank Lightbourn, Kathleen and Rex Hill and Joseph P. Curran and her step great grandchildren Kelly Curran, Caitlin Lightbourn, Courtney and Nicolette Hill, Jack Demeo and Isabelle Curran. Besides her husband Micky was predeceased by a brother Edward J. Brzys and sisters Stephania Michaud and Stella Butterworth Ward. The family thanks the staff at Mary's Meadow for their dedication and passion and going "above and beyond the call of duty" while caring for Micky. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday morning from 10:00 – 11:00am.
