WEST SPRINGFIELD-Donald C. Brown, 88, died Sunday in the Holyoke Soldier's Home. He was born in Springfield and lived most of his life in West Springfield. He was a retired purchasing agent for the Stacy Supply Company, was a member of Mittineague United Methodist Church and the Amity Lodge of Odd fellows. Donald served in the Army during WWII in the European Theatre and was an avid bowler. He leaves his loving wife of 65 years Shirley (Searles) Brown, two sons Robert Brown of Franklin and David Brown of Agawam, three daughters Diane Appleton of Winter Park, FL, Betsy Hogan of Springfield and Laurie Paulin of Cocoa, FL, a sister Dorothy Manning of Springfield, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, three nieces and one nephew. The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 am in the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by committal services at the Mass Veteran's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 4-6 pm.
