Donald R. Dittbenner Frazer, 73, formerly of West Springfield died Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born in Belvidere, Ill., the son of Leona Dittbenner and Harvey Frazer. He lived in West Springfield most of his life before moving to Springfield in 2004. He worked for the City of Springfield Police Department as the City's first Dog Officer. He also worked as a truck driver for the United States Post Office, Allied Movers, Sheridan Trucking Company and retired from Sullivan Paper in 2007 after 22 years in the Shipping & Receiving Department. A lifetime member of the Springfield Falcons Hockey Booster Club, he also was a Springfield Boys and Girls Club Alumni. His most cherished memories are of those spent with his family. He especially enjoyed playing card games with his grandsons, watching his "princess" dance, and the "Pennies for Presents" fundraisers at St. Thomas School. He leaves his wife of 46 years Joanne (Gore) Dittbenner Frazer; a son Todd Frazer and his wife Tina; a daughter Dawn Frazer-Malone and her husband Brian; three grandchildren Lukis, Donevin and Maeleigh Frazer and his devoted friend Bill. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, Nov. 3rd from 4:00 – 7:00pm with a service at 6:30pm.
