WEST SPRINGFIELD - Donald D. Dunn, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Heritage Hall West surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 27, 1936 in Springfield to the late Frank and Mary (Latour) Dunn. He attended Springfield schools, HCC, and STCC. He was a long time resident of West Springfield and communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle church. He worked at the former A&P Bakery before becoming a realtor for Binda Real Estate. He was an assistant manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Agency before becoming the inspector auditor for the Springfield Housing Authority. He was the modernization coordinator for the Chicopee Housing Authority at Cabot Manor where he was involved in many youth programs and from which he retired. He initiated a Teen Center, including a basketball program for teens, after school program for pre-teens, and a summer job camp for teens. Don loved the Patriots, Red Sox, vacationing with his family on Cape Cod, and traveling with his grandchildren. His favorite fishing place was Lake George where we heard many tales of how the "big one" got away. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in West Springfield and was a member of the West Springfield Senior Center and West Springfield Fish and Game Club. Over the years, he helped neighbors, friends, and family members in many ways. His sense of humor always made you smile. He is survived by his loving wife Judith J. (Driscoll) Dunn of 58 years; his four children Terry Molyneux and fiancé Larry of Agawam, Sherry Murphy and husband Bruce of Easthampton, Judith Bono and husband Peter of Springfield, and Donna Dunn of West Springfield. Also, his brothers Robert and wife Gloria, Francis "Buddy" Dunn, sisters Lillian Flanders, Rose Dunn, Janet Vesce, and Patricia Lemieux, and sister-in-laws Dorothy Dunn, Beverly Koralishn, and Elsie Oldiges. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved very much; Tracy and Keith Molyneux and Keith's love of his life Lisa Moriarty, Kelly and Jimmy Redfern, Kari Bono and fiancé Kyle Stewart, Katelyn (Bono) Fessenden and husband Will, Andrew Pinette, his great grandchildren Stephanie Young and fiancé Matt Sullivan, Sarah Rose, Keegan Stewart, and great great grandchild Aiden Sullivan. He is also survived by the last of his grandmother's twenty two children, his special Uncle Russell of Plattsburg, New York. Don also had many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers William and James Dunn, sisters Charlotte Johnson, Frances Donnelly, and Mary Fuller, and nephews Joseph Donnelly, Thomas Fuller, Robert Dunn Jr., and James Donnelly Jr. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main St., Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Michael's Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm. The immediate family wishes to extend sincere thanks to relatives, friends, former colleagues, doctors, and staff at Mercy Hospital, Mercy Caritas Cancer Center, Springfield Medical Associates, and Heritage Hall West and a special thank you to his nephew Jerry Fuller for all his help and support.
