West Springfield - Donald J. Galus, 66 of 101 Sikes Ave, West Springfield, died peacefully after a short illness, on Wednesday April 10th, at home with his son by his side. Born in Springfield, the son of the late Frank J. and Frances (Adamsky) Galus, he grew up in West Springfield and was a 1976 graduate of West Springfield High School.  He worked for Ames Packaging & later for United Liquors in Chicopee. There, he became a proud teamster with the Local 404. Donald is survived by his son & best friend, Donald "DJ" Galus, Jr; his big brother Thomas Galus; his aunt Sarah Galus; his dear cousin John Galus; his nephews Christopher (Emily) Galus & Chris Jr; his nieces Heather Galus & Jayla & Ava, as well as many other family members and friends. Besides his parents, Donald is pre-deceased by his sister Mary Galus. Donald loved all things outdoors hunting, fishing, boating, quads, snowmobiles and breakfast. He was a long time member of Pioneer Valley Sportsman's Club where he made many friends & shared many good times. His greatest accomplishment in life was being an awesome Dad & friend, with a laugh and a smile like no other. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, April 19, 2024, starting at 10:00am and concluding with a funeral home service at 11:00am.  The burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.  For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
