Donald J. Lagacy, 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, son of the late John and Caroline (Dezalia) Lagacy, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1959 and moved to West Springfield forty-three years ago. Donald worked as an Equipment Installation Technician for Verizon for forty years and served as a chief steward for the I.B.E.W. Local 2324 before he retired. He was a member of the Westfield Sportsman Club, and an avid hunting and fishing enthusiast. He also enjoyed train watching and was a big Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a Medic SP4. He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Teresa C. (Lyons) Lagacy, two sons, Thomas J. Lagacy (Katie Vegh) of Springfield, William G. Lagacy of West Springfield, a daughter, Karen E. Lagacy of West Springfield, two brothers, Richard Lagacy of Palmer, Edward Lagacy and his wife Suzanne of Monson, two sisters, Shirley and her husband David Demusis of Springfield, Doris and her husband Robert Vancini of Ludlow, a sister-in-law, Adine Lagacy of Monson and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Raymond and Robert Lagacy and a sister, Carolyn Lagacy. The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at 11:30am at the West Springfield Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service on Thursday from 10-11:30.
