Donald P. Sowinski, 67, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, he was the son of the late Stanley and Dorothy (Opalenik) Sowinski. He grew up in South Hadley and was a 1966 graduate of South Hadley High School. Donald supervised the sign department for the highway department and worked for the DPW for thirty-four years before retiring. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Southwick Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with his "buddies" on Sunday. He enjoyed selling collectibles and antiques at Kev's Barnyard in Granby. He lived in Chicopee for the last twenty years. He will be remembered as being a kind and gentle soul to everyone who knew him. One of his sayings was: May the Golf Gods be with you! He leaves his loving wife, Nancy A. (Denn) Wojcikowski, an aunt and uncle, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother who died in the Vietnam War, Robert Sowinski. A memorial service will be held at a later date and the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
