Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD - Doris H. (Wilmes) Hale, 97, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2014 at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. She was a lifelong resident of West Springfield and was employed in the West Springfield School System as a nurse and then as a second grade teacher. She received a masters degree in Education and another masters degree in Health Education. Doris served her country in the Army from 1942 to 1945 serving in New Guinea, Australia as a nurse. Doris was predeceased by her son, Richard in 1990. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, George and Robert and a sister, Ruth. She leaves her loving grandchildren, Melissa Hale, Brian Hale and Lindsay Hale and great-grandchildren, Ayden Novak, Cleo Hale and Sebastian Huot, along with her nephew, Robert Wilmes and his wife Marge and other relatives. The family would like to thank all those individuals from the Soldier's Home and Hospice of Western Massachusetts who were involved in Doris' care. Doris will be remembered for her kind and generous ways, sense of humor and love of family and God. Ther are no calling hours and the burial will be in Paucatuck Cemetery in the spring. Curran-Jones Funeral Home in West Springfield is in charge.
