Dorothy M. (Mahoney) Bourke, 83, passed away on Tuesday, August 14. Her husband of 60 years, William P. Bourke died last year. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Thomas F. and Dorothy A. (Vlasak) Mahoney. Dotty graduated in 1953 from Sacred Heart High School, in 1956 from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, and she received her BSN from Elms College. Dotty had an impressive nursing career. She worked during the 1960's at Springfield Hospital as a cardiac nurse and during the 1970's and 1980's at Holyoke Hospital as Head Nurse of Pediatrics and Director of Inservice. She was Director of Nursing at Glenmeadow in Longmeadow during the 1990's until 2010. Dotty leaves her two sons William B. Bourke and his wife Deborah of West Springfield, Thomas J. Bourke and his wife Laurie of Westfield, a daughter Joanne M. Spath and her husband Richard of Southampton, a sister Ruth Moran of West Springfield, five grandchildren Jeffrey Hannifan, Crystal Bourke, William Hannifan, Jeremy Bourke and Shannon Day and seven great grandchildren. The family is very thankful to the staff at the Atrium in Agawam for their wonderful care during these last months. The funeral will be Saturday August 18, starting with a calling hour from 10 to 11 am at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by a funeral home service at 11 am.
