Dorothy A. Kelly – Cowles
1936 – 2015

RUSSELL – Dorothy A. (Stowers) Kelly-Cowles, 78, passed away peacefully Monday morning surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield daughter of the late Winthrop and Katherine (Connors) Stowers. She worked as a Manager at Big Y for 20 years, Freihofer's for 20 years and more recently 15 years as the Bar Manager for the VFW Post 6645. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and Sons of Erin. Besides her parents Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband William Kelly, her brother Richard Stowers and in April her present husband Bruce L. Cowles. She leaves her three loving children and their spouses Julie and Arthur Morin of Westfield, Sheila Kelly and Roger Pickford of Huntington and William and Diana Kelly of Southwick; six grandchildren Art, Bill, and Joe Granger, Ryan, Jason and Brianna Kelly and five great grandchildren Kaila Richardson, Aidan, Arianna, Finnegan and Abigail Granger. She also leaves her siblings Donald Stowers and his wife Shirley, Charles Stowers and his wife Jean, Winthrop Stowers, Martin Stowers, Shirley Keeler, Beatrice McCarthy and her husband Jerome, Goddaughter Karen McCarthy and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 10:00am followed by burial in Russell Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
