South Hadley – Dorothy "Dolly" (Sullivan) Crossland, 90, of Hadley Street died peacefully Friday morning surrounded by her loving family. Dolly was born in Mansonville, Province of Quebec, Canada, came to Holyoke as an infant and lived there for 29 years before moving to South Hadley in 1959 to raise her family. She was a receptionist for Dr. Edward Halton in Holyoke and retired as a proofreader from the Philip Hano Company. Dolly graduated in 1947 from Holyoke High School and was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Hadley where she served as a Deaconess. She and her husband put on many church suppers in the 1970's. She served as a past secretary and treasurer of "Know Your Town" a local civic organization, was active with the South Hadley Council on Aging and was a videographer for the Springfield Chordsmen. She also was an avid swimmer in the Fitness Program at Mt. Holyoke College. Her husband Henry "Harry" Crossland died in 2012 and she was predeceased by a son Timothy J. Crossland. She leaves three children Harrison L. Crossland of Cape Coral, FL, Richard S. Crossland of Orlando, FL and Linda C. Moynahan of Springfield; nine grandchildren; Kerrie, Gregory, Amanda, Kevin, Collin, Andrew, Kyle, Daniel and Kelly and twelve great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley on Sunday, Aug. 9 th from 2:00 – 5:00pm. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 10 th at noon. For more details and online condolences please visit curranobrien.com.
