Douglas L. Liquori

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Douglas L. Liquori, 94, died Friday in a local nursing home. Doug was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield all his life. He was a 1935 graduate of West Springfield High School and served with the United States Army Infantry during World War II, earning a Bronze Star. After the war he started working for the railroad, retiring from Conrail in 1981. An avid New York Yankees Fan, he was also a lifetime member of the Verdi Club and the Knights of Columbus in West Springfield. He leaves his wife of 57 years Dorothy (Lawler) Liquori; two sons Anthony and his wife Kathy of Framingham, Albert and his wife Lisa of Feeding Hills; three daughters Helen and her partner June of South Berwick, ME, Jenny Davies and her husband Keith of Springfield and Angela Pugliano of Norwood. He also leaves six grandchildren Nicholas, Alex, Celia, Christina, Gianna and Joseph. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
