Taylor, Sr.
November 28, 1942 – September 11, 2021
AGAWAM – Douglas J. Taylor, Sr., 78, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, son of the late James and Christina (Honiker) Taylor, he graduated from Putnam High School and lived in Agawam for over thirty years. Douglas worked for Stanley Door for thirty years. He was a Vietnam veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 185 and a retired member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. After his retirement, Doug enjoyed travelling, decorating his home for every holiday and making unique gifts for family and friends. Doug served alongside with his wife Marilyn, completing boat safety inspections for the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was always available to his family whenever anything needed fixing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Douglas leaves behind his dancing partner and wife of thirty-one years, Marilyn (Boussy) Taylor, two sons, Douglas J. Taylor, Jr. of Springfield, Scott Taylor of Florida, a daughter, Amy (Taylor) Rivera of Florida, five step-sons, Steven Gaynor of Springfield, Dennis Gaynor of Agawam, Jeffrey Gaynor and his wife Kathy of Russell, Timothy Gaynor and his wife Meleen of Agawam, Robert Gaynor and his wife Kimberly of Florida, a sister, Melody (Taylor) Starke of California, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Bonnie (Taylor) Michel and Sherry Taylor. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
