Earl Rivers

1926 – 2021

Agawam – Earl Rivers, 94, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Earl was born in Agawam, son of the late Levi and Amelia (LaMontagne) Rivers and has lived here his entire life. He worked at the United States Armory in Springfield and later retired from Sweet Life, where he worked as a warehouse shipper. Earl served with the United States Navy during World War II, was a member of the Teamsters and communicant of the former St. Theresa's Church.  His wife Barbara (Aloisi) Rivers died in 1997.  Family was his life and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He leaves two sons Gary Rivers and Russell Rivers and his wife Cheryl: a sister Dolores and brother Bobbie Rivers. He also leaves three grandchildren, Shannon Wesolowski, Lindsay Verderber, and Jessica Rivers and five great grandchildren, Reece, Levi, Jackson, Olivia, and Evie.  Besides his wife and parents,  he was predeceased by his sibling Sonny, Lawrence, Roland, Althea, Beulia and Adrienne. Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday from 9:30 – 10:30am followed by a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 11:00am. His burial will be held in the Agawam Center Cemetery. For more details and online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
