Edith E. Fountain
1921 – 2012

AGAWAM – Edith E. (McTaggart) Fountain, 90 of Royal Street was called safely home Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born in West Springfield on July 11, 1921 and lived in West Springfield all her life before moving to Agawam in 2006. She worked for many years as an Inspector for the former National Paper Box Company in West Springfield before retiring from the Renner & Davis Company in Chicopee. Edith was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in West Springfield for many years before moving to Agawam. Edith and her beloved husband, Albert, loved and doted on their family. Her grandchildren fondly recall sleepovers with "Gram" and "Gramp" when they were young. "Gram" was always there to lend a hand and always help anyone in the family who needed her. She was selfless and always gave without expecting anything in return. She had a boisterous laugh and an infectious smile. Even in recent times when her health was failing, her blue eyes would twinkle with pleasure at the sight of her great grandchildren playing.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Sandra Webster of Agawam; three grandchildren, Lori McCullough and her husband Timothy, Jody Webster and his wife Atty Christine Webster and Gary Webster. She also leaves three great grandchildren Victoria McCullough, Chase and Caroline Webster. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 2005, a son-in-law Jon Webster, brother James McTaggart and sisters Doris Martino, Winifred Hutchinson and Mildred Hills. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
