Edmund M. Luzgauskas
1926 – 2011

AGAWAM – Edmund M. Luzgauskas, 84, of Suffield Street died Wednesday at the Baystate Medical Center after a brief illness. Edmund was born in Worcester and had lived in Agawam for most of his life. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II with the field artillery 77th Division and later graduated from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was a retired electrical engineer and worked for many leading aerospace industry employers including General Electric, Aero-Icing Research Laboratories, Raytheon, Lockheed Missiles and Space, Kaman Aero, and Rockwell International. One of Edmund's more notable assignments was being stationed one winter on the summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire to provide assistance for jet-engine testing in the aeronautical icing research laboratory. During retirement Edmund's hobbies and pastimes included auto and electronics repair, astronomy, and reading at the West Springfield public library. He leaves his cousins Joseph F. Kracunas of Braintree, Bernard Kracunas of North Palm Beach, FL, Lorraine Bailey of Hyde Park, VT, Rita Cleary of Sugar Hill, GA and Virginia Koroblis of Plymouth. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at Noon, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral on Friday from 11:00am – Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
