Edna Edith
Shibley
November 10, 1930 – November 29, 2025
On November 29, 2025, Edna E. Shibley, 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Born on November 10, 1930, she was the daughter of Ernest and Rhea (Vezina) Paro.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Victoria Wilson of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; her son, Victor Shibley Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Kassandra, of West Springfield. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren: Victor Shibley III and his partner, Erin St. Onge, Megan Shibley, and Sarah Shibley; and her three great-grandchildren, Sofia, Stella, and Theodore.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Victor J. Shibley Sr.; her daughter, Holly Anne Shibley; and son-in-law, Glenn Wilson. She was also predeceased by her six siblings: Ernest Paro, Rita Muller, Lillian Scibelli, E. Claire Smithies, Doris Williams, and Lawrence Paro, along with many dear friends and additional family.
Edna loved being around her grandchildren and often said, "If I knew how much I would enjoy my grandchildren, I would have had them first." She enjoyed playing in the VFW pitch league, attending her grandson's softball games, and was a lifelong baseball fan. She was currently reading a book about Babe Ruth. You could often find her at bingo, a card game, or playing "Let It Ride" at the casino. Edna was a known chocolatier and taught candy-making to her dearest friends. In her last week of life, Edna was able to make her famous Thanksgiving pies, her famous Christmas fruitcake, and boxes of chocolates to gift this holiday season.
Edna, in her own words:
"I was born November 10, 1930, in Agawam. Now I will tell you what I did: I was president of the Feeding Hills Community Kindergarten. I was a Girl Scout leader and camp counselor. After that, I was president of the Agawam Junior Women's Club, vice president of the Senior Women's Club, and president of the Past Presidents Club of all the Women's Clubs of Massachusetts. That's all I did, which was plenty.
Then I had three children: Victoria, Victor Jr., and Holly, and three grandchildren: Victor III, Megan, and Sarah, and three great-grandchildren: Sofia, Stella, and Teddy, and 2 cats.
I like making candy for my family and friends. I had a happy life. My husband built homes. We lived in Houston for 10 years.
Remember me as a kind person."Calling hours are Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 8:30 - 9:30am at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30.
