Edward J. Bovat, 74, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on November 14, 1949 in Springfield. He was the son of the late Edward N. Bovat and Mary (O'Neil) Bovat. Edward retired from H. P. Hood in Suffield after twenty-eight years in 2015. After retirement, he worked for Perry's Auto Supply and Car Parts International. He was a member of the Agawam Revolver Club Bullseye Team and the West Springfield Fish and Game. He leaves his wife of fifty-three years, Janice L. (Crawford) Bovat, who was the love of his life, his daughter, Pamela Bovat of Feeding Hills, two sons, Jeffrey and his wife Jessica Bovat of Southwick, Kevin and his wife Amanda Bovat of Agawam, a brother, James and his wife Laurie Bovat of Ludlow, two sisters, Diane Bovat and Susan and her husband John Phillips all of Feeding Hills, seven grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Hannah, Jesse, Jaime, Kendall and Ryder, along with several nieces and nephews, especially Megan McCree and Kayla Davis who he had a special bond with, and his beloved dogs, Thunder and Peyton. The funeral will be Saturday at 10am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edward's name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org or any animal rescue of your choice.
