Obituary

Edward A. Burgamaster, Jr., 94, died Monday morning at home, surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born in New London, New Hampshire, son of the late Edward A. and Marion L. (Wright) Burgamaster, on July 18, 1921. He graduated from Stoneham, (MA) High School and attended Northeastern University. Ed served as a 1st Lieutenant for the 9th Air Force Squadron of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He moved to Agawam in 1946 and worked as a laboratory supervisor for Texon, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1984. His wife of sixty-nine years, Barbara C. (Monson) Burgamaster, died in 2013. He leaves a son, James E. Burgamaster of Nottingham, NH; two daughters, Ann Bongiorni and her husband Mark of Springfield, Diane Anderson and her husband Dewayne of Houston, TX, and four grandchildren Tracy Anderson, Rachel Opersteny and her husband Eric, Paul Bongiorni, and Rebecca Anderson. The family would like to thank Tammy Clarke, R.N. and the staff at Aging at Home in Westfield for their loving care and support of Ed and Barbara over the past five years. Visiting hours will be held at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. The committal service will be held Friday at 1:00pm at the chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
