Obituary

South Hadley-Edward J. Hollering, 80, died Wednesday at home. He was born on December 3, 1934 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Irene (Hawley) Hollering and John Edward Hollering. Ed leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Evelyn Powell Hollering and his three daughters Edie Grassi and her husband Steve, Erin McGovern and her husband Bob and Evette Hollering. He has five loving grandchildren Devon, Colin, Cameron, Elizabeth and Alec. He also leaved behind his sister Sandy, her husband Roger and many nieces and nephews. Ed attended Hamline College in Saint Paul, MN and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He is an Army veteran of the Korean War. Ed had a career in the printing industry. He worked for the American Can Company as a Plant Manager for over twenty years. He was promoted many times during his career, relocating to Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Connecticut. After retiring from The American Can Company, he worked as Vice President for The Mickie Company in Charlottesville, VA and then as Vice President at Hazen Paper Company in Holyoke, MA. Ed loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hiking, canoeing and kayaking. He loved entertaining friends and family, and hosted many parties at his home. The committal service with Military Honors will be Monday at 10 at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30 pm with a closing prayer service at 4:30 pm.
