Agawam- Eileen Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Deschenes of Agawam, formerly of Westfield, passed away after a long illness Sunday July 3, 2011 in the Heritage Hall West nursing home. Born in Lawrence, MA. on Oct. 2, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Thomas Fitzpatrick and Clara (Unger) Fitzpatrick. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas (Sonny) Fitzpatrick. She graduated Andover High School in 1943. After graduation, she attended Western Union telegraph school in Washington, D.C. and worked in the Western Union office in Holyoke, MA. Later, she attained her real estate license and worked as a realtor for many years. She held many other part-time positions including school bus driver, crosswalk monitor, and para-legal. She was an active writer. She wrote many letters to local, state, and congressional officials. Eileen maintained a travel diary whenever she was on a trip. She is survived by seven children- Michael Roy Parker of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL., Daniel Douglas Parker of Forestdale, MA., David Francis Parker of Aromas, CA., Timothy John Parker of Westfield, MA., Elizabeth Ann Dupre of Palmer, MA., Andrea Eileen Noonan of Springfield, MA., and Caroline Mary Zymkiewicz of Southwick, MA. Eileen also leaves twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church on Wilbraham Rd in Springfield. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She won many trophies in candlepin bowling and recently won a women's billiards tournament in Wilbraham. She was an avid card player and played pinochle with her friends often. She enjoyed exercising regularly and she was an avid recreational swimmer. She swam into her 80's. Her family and many friends will dearly miss her. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 11:00am followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield.
