1921 – 2018

AGAWAM – Eileen A. (Hurd) Field, 97, died Thursday at home in the presence of her loving daughter. Eileen was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Herbert and Esther (Smith) Hurd.  She spent her early years in the Pine Point area of Springfield, graduated from West Springfield High School in 1938 and has lived in Agawam for the past sixty two years.  Eileen received her nursing degree from St. Luke's School of Nursing and worked at the former Westfield State Sanatorium and Municipal Hospital before resigning to raise her children. A communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, she was a member of the Women's Club and served as a Eucharistic minister at nursing homes and residences.  Her husband John T. Field died in 2012.  She leaves four children Lawrence M. Field and his wife Patty, John T. Field and his wife Jennifer, Moonyean M. Field and Alanna A. Tidwell and her husband Jim; a grandson Shannon Field-Yukumi, his wife Masami and two great grandsons Jack and Sam as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Eileen was predeceased by her sister Susan Brunton.  A calling hour will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 9:00 A.M. with Liturgy in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10:00 A.M. followed by inurnment in St. Michael's Archangel Mausoleum.  For more details please visit curranjones.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the DARE Program, c/o the Agawam Police Department, 681 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030 or the Opera House Players, 100 High Street, Enfield, CT.
