Elaine M. Young

1941 – 2023

West Springfield – Elaine M. (Rioni) Young, 81 died Wednesday, Feb. 22 ^nd at home surrounded by her loving family.  Elaine was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Eugene and Elva (Tassinari) Rioni.  She was a graduate of West Springfield High School and worked briefly at the former Riverdale Gardens Nursing Home. She then left the workforce to spend time with her family as a wife to her beloved husband John F. Young and devoted mother to her four children: Coreen L. Young, Michael O. Young, William J. Young and Mathew A. Young.  She also leaves a brother Jack Rioni and her grandson Mitchell Young.  The family would like to thank Baystate Hospice, especially Ann-Marie and Maria for the exceptional care given to Elaine. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday, March 6 ^th from 9:30am - 10:30am followed by Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 11:00am Her burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.   For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, a charity that Elaine has supported for years, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
