Eleanor D. Beauchane

1922 – 2020

Feeding Hills – Eleanor D. (O'Neil) Beauchane, 97, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed peacefully on Monday morning at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Eleanor was born in Springfield on June 24, 1922 to the late James and Dora (Wilson) O'Neil. She was raised and educated in West Springfield before moving to Feeding Hills in 1946 where she and her husband raised their family. Eleanor loved listening to Springfield Thunderbird hockey games on the radio, going to the casino, and sipping on a Manhattan. She was trained as a commercial artist and worked for many years at Eastern Etching in Chicopee. Eleanor's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family who will carry on her loving spirit. She had the extraordinary ability to connect with everyone she met -- leaving a lasting impression on every life she touched. Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, George L. Beauchane; her brothers James O'Neil, Joe Hickson, Sam Hickson; and sisters Mary Bovat, MaryRose Hickson, and Joan Weddle.  She leaves a son George J. Beauchane, daughter Ellen Janik and her husband Doug Sr.; grandson Doug Janik Jr. and his wife Kristin, granddaughter Carrie Mayer and her husband Bobby, granddaughter Amanda Lizotte and her husband Dan, and grandson Andre Beauchane; four great grandchildren Douglas, Jackson, Owen, and Sammy; her sister-in-law Dolores Hickson; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Pioneer Valley Home Care Services who brought care and companionship to Eleanor each day.  The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 10:30am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church at 11:30am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com .  Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Parish, 1061 Springfield Street Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
