Eleanor E. Cummings

1919 – 2022

West Springfield – Eleanor E. (Stenberg) Cummings, 102, died peacefully Tuesday May 10th in the presence of her loving family. 103 was not to be, so God put his arms around you and whispered Ellie come with me. Eleanor was born in Springfield on August 29 ^th , 1919  She was the daughter of the late Nora T Sullivan and Carl A Stenberg, and had lived in West Springfield for 97 years before  moving to Ludlow to reside with her daughter. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and worked at Milton Bradley  retiring after 20 years. Eleanor was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Nana, and GG . She was an example of strength, loyalty, and compassion.  Ellie loved the ocean, and would swim in any weather. She was a voracious reader, loved a good laugh, and was a "Champion card sender" never forgetting any Birthday or special occasion. Eleanor was predeceased by her  husband Philip Cummings in 1993, her son Thomas Cummings, and her dear granddaughter Brenna Cummings. She leaves six children, Philip and his wife Joan of Black Mountain NC, Gerald and his wife Dianne of Lake Wylie SC, Karen Boduch and her husband Robert of Ludlow, Kevin Cummings of West Spfld, Paul and his wife Kathy of St. Peter's Mo., Christine Doe of West Spfld, and  daughter in law Kim Cummings of West Spfld. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren and eleven  great grandchildren . The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, May 20th at noon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service Friday from 10:30am – Noon. Burial will be private.  For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
