SPRINGFIELD-Eleanor (Heffernan) DiFiore, 82, passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2014. Eleanor was born in Medford, MA. She worked as a claims examiner for John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston, before marrying Edward A. DiFiore. While raising her family, she supervised the print shop of the former Valley Bank. Eleanor was an avid reader of all subjects and her passion was following Boston sports of all kinds. She enjoyed time supporting her grandchildren in their sporting, musical and theater endeavors. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward A. DiFiore, her daughter Diane Mastroianni and husband Rick of Monson, her daughter Lenore DiFiore of Portland, ME; her son Edward J. DiFiore of Springfield and his former wife Deb of East Longmeadow; seven grandchildren, Meredith, Amy, Jon, Andrew, Renee, Sidney and Silvia and three great grandchildren, Avery, Robert and Emma. The funeral Mass will be Monday at 9:30 am at Holy Mary Mother of Hope Church followed by committal services at the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main St., W. Springfield will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
