Eleanor (Mercadante) Tonelli, 94, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born in Agawam, daughter of the late Vincenzo and
Filomena (Menna) Mercadante, she was a lifelong resident of Agawam.Eleanor had worked as an inspector for thirteen years at the former Breck
Company in West Springfield. She was a member of the Agawam Golden Age Club Chapter 1, a former member of the Catholic Women's Club and
was formerly in the Italian Women's Club. Eleanor's joy in life was spending time with her large family, especially her great-grandchildren.  From cooking to attending sporting events or special school programs, Eleanor was always there. She especially loved sitting together with her grandkids recounting her rich family history. Eleanor's family wishes to thank the Westfield Gardens Nursing Home and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care.  The staff became her friends and family. She leaves a son and his wife, Richard and Paula Tonelli of Simsbury, a sister and her husband, Alberta "Betty" and Edward Gutowski of Agawam, a granddaughter, Cara Hugabonne and her husband Jeffrey of Simsbury, two great-grandchildren, Mira Hugabonne, Luke Hugabonne and nieces and nephews as well as her long time friend, Mary Ann Costa.  She was predeceased by her two brothers, James Mercadante and his wife Rosie and Roland Mercadante. Calling hours will be Friday from 9-10:30am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10:30.  The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westfield Gardens Nursing Home, 37 Feeding Hills Road, Westfield, MA 01085 or to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester St., Indian Orchard, MA 01151.
