Eleanor E.
Triggs
September 30, 1914 – July 1, 2018
On July 1, 2018 a gentle woman was taken from us and has gone to eternal rest. Elena "Eleanor" E. (Moauro) Triggs, was born September 30, 1914 in Springfield, MA, daughter of Rocco and Mercedes (Orlando) Moauro. Although she didn't want her age told, in order to abide by her wishes, let's just say she was three months shy of her 104 th birthday. A Springfield resident her entire life, Eleanor was educated in Springfield Public Schools and was a Graduate of Commerce High School Class of 1935. Eleanor was an "at home mom" and a frugal money manager. She had many part time jobs throughout her life such as Hotsy, Totsy in Holyoke, Steiger's, Kings Department Store, the Post Office and a crossing guard for Springfield Schools. Eleanor enjoyed a good laugh and family gatherings. She was one who told you what was on her mind! Always saying "We have no money but a lot of laughs!" She was a lifetime parishioner at Holy Cross for over 60 years and a former member of the Holy Cross Women's Club. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Thomas V. in 1987, her son Thomas E. in 2016 and two sisters Filomena (Winnie) Gilbert and Mary Houlihan. Eleanor will be sadly missed by her children, son Daniel and daughter-in-law Shanley of Milton, VT, daughter Arleen Collins and son-in-law Bob of West Springfield, three grandchildren Daniel M. Triggs of Boston, MA, Elizabeth (Liz) Triggs and Margaret (Maggie) Triggs from Milton, VT, a cousin Phyllis Bellotti and many nieces and nephews from the Triggs and Moauro families. The family would like to thank the caretakers and staff of Heritage Hall West in Agawam who watched over Eleanor (known as "Honey" to them) through the years spent at Heritage, especially Pam who always knew what she needed, Laurie, Beth, Frank and too many to mention that gave her the love and kindness. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Liturgy in St. Patrick's Church, Springfield at 10 am. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 4:00 to 7:00pm. In memory of Eleanor, donations may be given to Holy Cross Parish/Renovation Fund, 221 Plumtree Rd., Springfield, MA or to charity of one's choice.
