WEST SPRINGFIELD – Elizabeth J. (Mullins) Blakely, 85, of Grove Street died Thursday in Mercy Medical Center. Elizabeth was born in the St. Albans section of Queens, New York and has lived in West Springfield for the past 66 years. She worked in the Laundry Department of Baystate Medical Center and also served as a crossing guard and cafeteria worker for the former Main Street School. She was a longtime communicant of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church. At age 79 she fulfilled a lifelong dream of going to Ireland and kissing the Blarney Stone. She was predeceased by her husband Guy E. Blakely and a daughter Linda M. Winkler. She leaves two sons John E. Schutt (Patricia) and Arthur C. Schutt Jr. (Carol) both of West Springfield; two daughters Kathleen M. Chapdelaine (Roger) of West Springfield and Elizabeth J. Cosgrove (Johnny) of Feeding Hills; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and daughter she was predeceased by her siblings John, Fergus, Margaret, Helen and Judith. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00 am with Liturgy in St. Frances Church at 10:00 am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
