"Betty" passed away peacefully on February 15th at the age of 92. She was a wonderful, kind caring and loving lady as a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She graduated from Wareham High School in 1941. She was her class president, cheerleader and played many sports. She was very active at the Shriners Hospital as a volunteer for 15 years. She was involved civically at the West Springfield Garden Club, Ramapogue Woman's Club, Meals on Wheels, Scholarship Bridge, West Springfield Chapter Order of Eastern Star #144. She participated in various drives, arthritis, cancer, heart and March of Dimes. She was a member and advisor of the Hellenic Senior Citizens of Greater Springfield since 1974. She was active at the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club, Storrowton Village, Potter & Gilbert House and the West Springfield-Agawam Open Pantry. She was a 7 gallon blood donor. Betty is predeceased by her husband, Chris, sister Helen Kirby, grandson Will and daughters in law Nancy Grammaticas and Meridith Grammaticas. She had many cats and was a lover of the beaches at Cape Cod and a lover of nature and birds. She leaves her son Chris, son Bill and his wife Linda, step grandson Christopher and granddaughter Elizabeth. Calling hours are at the Curran-Jones Funeral Home 109 Main Street, West Springfield are 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday February 27th. The funeral will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Road, Springfield, MA at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 28th.
