Obituary

Ellen M. (Moriarty) Brennan, 95, died Friday after a long, happy and incredibly full life.  She was born in West Springfield, the fifth of ten children of the late Thomas C. and Susan (Crean) Moriarty. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1946. Ellen was a member of American Legion Post #430 and a Charter Member of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington DC which was completed in 1997.  She leaves two sons, Michael Brennan and his wife Judy of Blandford and James Brennan and his wife Cathy of Wethersfield, CT, her sister Patricia A. Marotte of Westfield, her sister-in-law Helen Moriarty of Springfield, grandchildren Megan Brennan Wood, Conor, Maura and Brighid Brennan, great-grandchildren Julia Brennan, and Burren and Orla Wood and many nieces and nephews who where very dear to her. She was predeceased by her husband James A. Brennan; her brothers Thomas J., James W. and John J. Moriarty and sisters Mary R. O'Neil, Katherine V. O'Neil, Margaret C. Youmell, Susan E. Provost and Loretta C. Sullivan. The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 10 a.m. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
