Elmer E. Scull
1916 – 2012

AGAWAM – Elmer Scull, 96, died Saturday, Dec. 29th at Country Estates in Agawam. He was born in English Creek, New Jersey and was a graduate of Drexel University. Elmer served as a commander in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed a technical career with General Electric both in Pittsfield and Cape Kennedy, FL while working on the space program. He lived throughout the United States during his careers, while always maintaining a home in Ocean City, N.J. He moved to Agawam in 2000, with his wife Ruth, to be closer to family and friends. Elmer will always be remembered for his love of the sea, his kindness and compassion for others; especially his wife Ruth to whom he was married for 68 years at the time of her death in 2010. He leaves a son Robert Scull of Binghamton, N.Y. and two daughters; Barbara Gasperack of West Springfield and June Grunin of Falmouth; six grandchildren; Amy Bolduc of Westfield, Dr. David Gasperack of Reading, PA, Elissa Adams of Sandwich, Daniel Grunin of Boston, Nate Scull of Ithaca, N.Y., and Will Scull of Binghamton, N.Y. and nine wonderful great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will precede the funeral home service from 9:00 – 10:00am. Elmer's family would like to thank the staff at Country Estates for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Elmer.
