Elsie M. LaPointe

1928 – 2020

AGAWAM – Elsie M. (Hageman) LaPointe, 92, of Main Street passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Born in New Rochelle, NY on April 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (Ek) Hageman. She lived most of her life in Springfield, MA, moving to Agawam in 2005. Educated in local schools, she graduated from Technical High School. Elsie was a member of the former Liberty Methodist Church.  She was a longtime member of several Rebekah Lodges. Elsie was a very social person and always had a warm smile and helping hand for everyone she met. Elsie is survived by her three children Alan LaMountain (Evelyn), Francis LaPointe (Susie), and Ida Shultz (Bob), as well as 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Francis ("Tiny") LaPointe, and her siblings Ida McLeod, Genevieve Sykas, and Herman Hageman.  A committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam Thursday at 10:00am.  Due to Covid regulations, masks and social distancing will be required.  The Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements and there are no calling hours.
