Elton S. Lemon

1921 – 2018

West Springfield – Elton S. Lemon, 96 formally of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at home in West Springfield on Sunday, February 11, 2018.  Elton was born in Shirley, MA on October 26, 1921 to Ethel L. and Cassius E. Lemon.  He attended schools in Wilbraham and was employed for 35 years by the Crane Manufacturing Company in Indian Orchard as a controller before retiring in 1986.  Elton's only brother, Cassius Jr., passed when a toddler in 1924.  Elton was the beloved husband of Muriel J. Kauffman who passed in 1994.  Elton enjoyed hunting, skiing, golfing, bowling and vacationing by car with his wife in Yellowstone National Park and the Florida Keys.  Elton will be remembered as a polite gentleman who enjoyed life and people.  He leaves extended relatives in the Monson and Palmer area, and his caretakers Antoinette Mancini and Anthony Parisi with whom he resided.  His caretakers wish to thank Baystate VNA and Hospice for the wonderful care and support provided during his final year.   A graveside service will be held in the spring at Glendale Cemetery in Wilbraham.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice, 280 Chestnut St. Springfield, MA 01199.
