FEEDING Hills – Erich W. Daubitz, 87, of Colemore Street died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center. Erich was born in Springfield and has lived in Feeding Hills most of his life. He was a retired Toolmaker and owned Galaxie Tool and Gauge in Westfield for many years. He also worked for Precision Engineering and Oxford Precision before retiring from Precision Products in West Springfield. He was awarded five Battle Stars, the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart as a rifleman for the United States Army during World War II. His wife Helen (Drewnowski) Daubitz died in 2009. He leaves two children Richard C. Daubitz and Patricia Nicoll and her husband David, three grandchildren Jeffery Nicoll, Annalisa Irish and her husband Christopher and Kyle Daubitz. He was predeceased by his two brothers Paul and Walter Daubitz. The family would like to thank the staff, including the physical therapists at Heritage Hall East and also the nurses and doctors at Baystate Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Erich. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 12:00 noon followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
