Ernest Burtt, 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Born in Hamilton, Scotland, Ernest was the son of the late Walter and Barbara (Graham) Burtt. In 1966, he and his wife, Margaret, began a new chapter in their lives when they moved to the United States with their two young children. The family first settled in West Springfield before Ernest and Margaret made their home in Southwick more than thirty years ago.

Ernest enjoyed a long and successful career as a Project Manager with ABB Combustion Engineering, retiring in 1997.

He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret (Young) Burtt; his two daughters, Lorraine and her husband, Mark Pitcher, of Grand Isle, Vermont, and Alison Seminara of Colts Neck, New Jersey; his brother, John Burtt, and sister, Evelyn Gillies, both of Scotland; and his four grandchildren, Rachel Pitcher, Heather Pitcher and her husband, Ryan Coen, Andrew Pitcher and his wife, Kai Walker, and Sydney Seminara. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Calling hours are Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 10-11am at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11. The burial is private.
