Eugene P. Butler
1938 – 2016
Eugene P. Butler, 77, formerly of Agawam died August 23rd in Spring Hill, FL., where he has resided for the past six years. He was born in Glen Ridge, N.J. and grew up in Bloomfield, N.J. graduating from Bloomfield High School. Eugene moved to Agawam in 1961 and retired after 25 years as a truck driver with the Teamsters. He served over 20 years in the United States Army and the United States Air Force, where he was called to active duty during the Desert Storm Conflict. An avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan, he loved to play golf, visit casinos and card games. Eugene was a member of the West Springfield American Legion, the Moose Club and Tiger Club in Chicopee and the Dante Club. He leaves his two sons Philip Butler of Agawam and Daniel Butler of Southwick; two grandchildren Ryan and Kailey; companion Mary Lee Abare of Spring Hill, FL and former wife and friend Diane Butler of Agawam. He was predeceased by a sister Eileen Bradley and brother Edward. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at Noon with Liturgy in St.John the Evangelist Church at 1:00pm followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
