Eugene E. Fitzgerald Jr., 88, died Monday morning at home surrounded by his loving family.  Gene was born in Springfield and lived in West Springfield all his life.  He was a self-employed master Mason and was well known in the area for his professional skills and his gregarious personality.  A Korean War Veteran, he was a former District 7 Commander and Post Commander of the VFW Post 6714 and member of the American Legion Post 260 in South Hadley.  He leaves his  partner of 50 years Shirley Lascala ; his four children Pamela Connors, Robin F. Brown, Sandra Adams, and Scott Fitzgerald and his partner Lisa Lemieux. His  five grandchildren Timothy J Fitzgerald and his partner Lisette Malaquias, Kelly Battles and her partner Luke Brach,Ashley McPherson and her husband Joshua McPherson, Marshall C. Adams Jr., Quinn Thomas Adams, and Carleigh Jo Pratt-Adams; and five great grandchildren.  He also leaves a sister Mollie Boshko of Florida.  A private committal service will be held in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. There will be a public Life Celebration at Collins Tavern, 997 Westfield St, West Springfield on Monday February 8 ^th at 11am.
