Obituary

Eugene E. Fitzgerald Jr., 88, died Monday morning at home surrounded by his loving family.  Gene was born in Springfield and lived in West Springfield all his life.  He was a self-employed master Mason and was well known in the area for his professional skills and his gregarious personality.  A Korean War Veteran, he was a former District 7 Commander and Post Commander of the VFW Post 6714 and member of the American Legion Post 260 in South Hadley.  He leaves his  partner of 50 years Shirley Lascala ; his four children Pamela Connors, Robin F. Brown, Sandra Adams, and Scott Fitzgerald and his partner Lisa Lemieux. His  five grandchildren Timothy J Fitzgerald and his partner Lisette Malaquias, Kelly Battles and her partner Luke Brach,Ashley McPherson and her husband Joshua McPherson, Marshall C. Adams Jr., Quinn Thomas Adams, and Carleigh Jo Pratt-Adams; and five great grandchildren.  He also leaves a sister Mollie Boshko of Florida.  A private committal service will be held in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. There will be a public Life Celebration at Collins Tavern, 997 Westfield St, West Springfield on Monday February 8 th at 11am.
