Obituary

Evelyn (Shea) Foley, 92, formerly of Parkside Street, Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Keystone Commons.  Evelyn was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Eugene and Delia (Russell) Shea. She began her career in the business office at Chain Belt, Chicopee, and later worked in the business offices of Forbes & Wallace, and Albert Steiger's, Brookdale.  She was a member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club, where she enjoyed all the Irish festivities, including music & dancing to Leo Doherty and Deidre Reilly, Sunday breakfasts, Ladies Guild dinners, and JBO Irish Festivals.  She was the official family photographer who loved to take pictures and record all the grandchildren's sporting events, as well as family parties, picnics, and Sunday dinners.  She was the person everyone gravitated towards when there was a card game or board game to win!  She also enjoyed family vacations in Maine, Cape Cod and New Jersey where the memories will live on forever!

Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Bill (2018), her son, Billy (2013), two brothers, Thomas and Eugene, and sister-in-law, Ann Shea.  She leaves her two daughters, Patricia (George) Daviau of South Hadley, Brenda (Bobby) Netkovick of Belchertown; daughter-in-law Ann Marie Foley of Agawam; son Joseph (Danielle) Foley, of Windsor CT; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Dan) Johnson, Loradona (Nick) Ferrara, Shannon (Tim) Jendrysik, Billy Foley; Geoff, Garrett and Greg Daviau; Kelsey and Brandon Netkovick; and Joey Foley; four great grandchildren Remy, Griffin, Paxton and Bexley. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Delia Shea, cousins, Kathleen Dowd, John "Chick" Moriarty and Tom Moriarty as well as several nieces and nephews who truly loved their "Auntie Evie".  In addition, a special shout out to the loving Dudas family in New Jersey who had sent Auntie Evie and Uncle Bill on a gorgeous trip to Ireland!

Evelyn's family would like to thank the entire staff at Keystone Commons along with Nataliya and Pam from WM Hospice. They would also like to acknowledge her compassionate caregivers, known as "Evie's Angels": Nancy, Melissa, RJ, Lori, Jackie, Delilah, Jacqueline, and Stacy. They truly loved her and were receptive to her wishes which included shopping in Worcester, lunches in Granby, watching boats in South Hadley, and endless ice cream!

Evelyn was a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church, who deeply loved her faith, family, and friends.  She was also a regular participant in the St. Peregrine Novena along with the church picnics and fundraisers.

A memorial mass will be held in Evelyn's honor at Mary Mother of Hope Church on Saturday, May 22 nd at 10 am. Committal rights will be private.
