Evelyn M. (Roberts) Hraba, 93, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Born in Middletown, CT, daughter of the late Eben and Marjorie (Bement) Roberts, she lived in West Springfield most of her life. Evelyn was an elementary school teacher in Middletown, and then worked part-time as a sales clerk for the former Albert Steiger's Department Store. She was an active member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Dr. William F. Hraba, OD. Evelyn is survived by her loving children and their spouses, William and Kimberly Hraba of St. George, ME; Lynn Hraba of West Springfield; Lisa Hraba of Holyoke; and Scott and Heidi Hraba of Westford, MA. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews: Judy and Raymond Babinski and Suzanne Cutler of Basking Ridge, NJ; and Joanne Blake, and Robert and Thelma Blake of Middletown, CT. The Hraba family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Atrium at Cardinal Drive in Agawam. The outstanding staff cared for our mother with skill, dedication, and compassion. They also provided support to the family for over four years, during a difficult transition. There will be a service of remembrance at the West Springfield United Methodist Church, 800 Amostown Road on Monday at 11am, with a reception to follow. She will be buried next to her husband at Paucatuck Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are Sunday at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street from 2-5pm. Please send any donations in Evelyn's memory to the West Springfield United Methodist Church, 800 Amostown Road, West Springfield, MA 01089 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
