Evelyn K. (Gray) Shore

1933-2018

West Springfield - Evelyn K. "Evie" (Gray) Shore died Sunday evening surrounded by her loving family.  She was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA., the daughter of the late S. Earl and Catherine (Kohne) Gray.  She graduated from South Hill High School in 1950 then attended Carnegie Tech. Evie started ice-skating at 6 years of age. She joined the Ice Capades ice show in 1952, and retired from skating in 1957 to marry Eddie (Ted) Shore Jr.  They had four children Catherine Pokorny her husband Jeff, Eddie Shore III, his wife Katherine, Robert Shore Sr. his wife Linda and Lynn Shore. Evie has nine grandchildren Meagan & Rachel Pokorny, Caitlin & Edward Shore IV, Christine & Robert Shore Jr., William Ezold, Joseph and John Wolf, and a great granddaughter Dakota Shore.  Evie was an avid reader and loved to play bridge. She was one of the original members of Wednesday West Springfield bridge players.  Evie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rainbow for Girls, Daughters of the Nile and the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.  She supported her husband in his Shriners endeavors as Potentate and the Shriners Hospital for Children where she was a volunteer.  The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday, April 25 ^th at 10:00am.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 24 ^th from 4:00-7:00pm.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Eddie Shore Angel Fund at the Springfield Shriners Hospital for Children. 516 Carew Street, Springfield Ma. 01104.
