FRANCES C. SILK

1924 – 2025

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Frances "Babs" Silk, 100, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on November 16, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Robert and Frances Smart. She has lived in West Springfield most of her life. Babs was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. We cherish the wonderful memories of her and her life. She was an incredible baker and cook and later in life earning the title of a "Chocolatier" taught to her by her good friend Edna.  She was loved by everyone she met and always made you feel important or like a part of her family.  Her husband of 65 years Robert R. Silk died in 2008.  She leaves; a daughter Barbara Largay of West Springfield; a son William and his wife Jeanenne of Feeding Hills; and a daughter Kathleen Sweeney and her Fiance Frank Daniele of Feeding Hills. She also leaves; six grandchildren Dina Rossi, Brendan, Ryan, Mellissa, Corey and Courtney Silk; two great grandchildren Shane Perry and Liam Silk; her sister Shirley Ford and her sisters in law Carol and Natalie Smart and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband, Frances was predeceased by a son Robert; her granddaughter Kaitlin Silk; brothers Robert, Edward, Richard Smart and sister Joan Benard. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care extended to her caretakers JoAnne Sutton and Jack Tatro. A private funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home.  The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
