AGAWAM – Frances R. (Gombos) Berwald, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 15, 2021 in Mercy Medical Center.  Born in Cleveland, OH, daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Kovesi) Gombos, she moved to Agawam in 1982.  She lived in Fairview Park, OH for twenty years, where she was a cafeteria worker at St. Angela Merici School.  She was a communicant of the former St. Theresa's Church in Agawam, and a volunteer for the Open Pantry in West Springfield and was in a prayer group that volunteered at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.  She leaves her husband of sixty-one years, Walter H. Berwald, a son, David A. Berwald of West Springfield, two sisters, Isabel Humachu of Whittier, CA, Gizella Jorgensen of Redwood, CA, and two grandchildren, Evan A. Berwald and Natalie Berwald.  The funeral will be Monday at 11am at Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills.  Calling hours will precede the Mass on Monday from 10-11am at the church.
