Frances T. Caney

1928 – 2019

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Frances T. (Robitaille) Caney, 90 died Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.  Frances was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Fortuna and Rose (Mouhot) Robitaille and has lived in West Springfield most of her life. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School.  She started her career in banking in 1962 with the West Springfield Co-Operative Bank and retired as Vice-President with Westbank after 32 years.  After retirement she and her husband started an Antique Business.  An avid Red Sox fan, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her husband of 68 years, Loring M. Caney died in 2015.  She leaves four children Michael and his wife Lourdes of Belchertown, Christine Caney of West Springfield, Matthew and his wife Chris of Palmer, and Timothy and his wife Doreen of Westfield; eight grandchildren Britany Samberg, Elise Kowal, Lauren, Catherine, Tara, Kristin, Luke and Natalie Caney and three great grandchildren Harper, Camryn and Liam.  Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother Philip Robitaille and sister Ursula Manning.  The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 9:00am with Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral Tuesday from 9:00 am – 10:30am.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
