Frances H. Niemiec
1921 – 2016

West Springfield – Frances H. "Babci" (Bazula) Niemiec passed away in her home on April 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Fran was born on October 10, 1921 in Westfield to Walter and Anna (Starzyk) Bazula. Fran spent most of her life in West Springfield where she resided in the same home since 1956. A graduate of Westfield High School, Fran worked as a customer service representative at the former Western Mass Electric Co., retiring in 1989. Fran will finally be at rest with her loving husband Max of 54 years. She was also predeceased by her sister Adele Barnett and brothers Henry Bazula, John and Fred Stec, and son-in-law John DeFilipi. Fran and Max created a wonderful family together where fond memories span many generations. Fran enjoyed shopping, selling her creations at craft fairs, and playing bingo. Most of all she always greatly anticipated and cherished the summer months, when her family would still routinely visit "Babci's pool" on almost every nice day. Fran leaves behind her brother Carl Stec, her beloved daughters Judith McGoff and her husband Larry, Maxine Racicot and her husband William and Christine DeFilipi. She also leaves six grandchildren: Eric DeFilipi and his wife Heather, Kara Phillips and her husband Brian, William Racicot Jr. and his wife Julie, Jeffrey Bossio and his wife Jill, Brian Bossio and his wife Karen and Andrew Bossio and his wife Vikki. Fran also leaves thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
