Obituary

Francis Joseph Cerpovicz, age 90, died peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Baystate Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer, MA after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.  Frank was born in Springfield, MA on July 12, 1935, son of the late Bronislaw and Anna Stasia (Schultski) Cerpovicz.  He lived most of his adult life and raised his family in Feeding Hills, MA, spending the last five years in Monson with his son, Michael and his wife Sheila.

Frank was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills.  He worked for 37 years at American Cyanamid in West Springfield as a skilled machinist and enjoyed being on the company's golf league for most of those years.  He was in the army reserves and then was a former national guardsman.  He had earned his pilot's license and often talked about the time he spent flying small planes. Frank loved playing cards, especially pitch and cribbage, belonging to several card leagues in Agawam and West Springfield.  He was also a life-long member of the Polish American Club in Agawam.  He was an avid golfer and bowler and participated in numerous leagues and tournaments over the years.  Frank enjoyed spending time in his workshop and loved woodworking – especially making beautiful and useful pieces out of scrap wood!  Frank also had a green thumb (probably two) and took pride in his vegetable gardens, and the numerous tomatoes and cucumbers he grew and shared with relatives and friends.

Frank leaves three sons and their spouses, Paul and Joelle Cerpovicz of  Statesboro, GA, Michael and Sheila Cerpovicz of Monson, and Gary and Bea Cerpovicz of Quincy, CA,  along with three grandchildren, Anita Cannady, and Karolina, and Oskar Cerpovicz.  He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Theresa (Malenfant) Cerpovicz, his two brothers, Joseph and Johnny Cerpovicz, and his sister Josephine Cerpovicz.

The family would like to thank the paramedics and the staff, nurses, and doctors at Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer for all of their kindness and service.
