Francis M. Conti Sr.

1927 – 2017

SOUTH HADLEY – Francis M. Conti Sr., 90, died Friday in the Soldier's Home surrounded by his loving family.  Frank was born in Wilbraham, grew up in Springfield and has lived in South Hadley since 1955.  He received his business degree from American International College and served in the United States Navy during World War II, the Asia-Pacific Theater and was stationed in Guam.  After the war, Frank owned and operated Conti's Beechwood in South Hadley Falls and in 1969 he built and operated Conti's 202 Restaurant and Banquet Hall.  He also served as South Hadley's Assessor and ran Conti's Used Cars.  He belonged to the Hampshire County Deputy Sherriff's Association.  He was a sociable man who enjoyed playing cards and hearing a good joke.  He was high-wired in town politics, was "Old School" in his approach to life and very practical.  His wife Dorina (Pascucci) Conti died in 2015.  He leaves four children Janice Hugger and her husband Craig; Frank Conti Jr., David Conti and his wife Cindy Sullivan and Joe Conti and his wife Denise; seven grandchildren, Derek Hugger, Erin Lopez, Alisha, Deanna, Heather, Sara, Brandon Conti; a great grandson Sebastian and a sister-in-law Susie Conti.  The funeral will be held at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley Saturday at 10:00am with Liturgy in St. Theresa's Church at Noon followed by burial in St. Rose Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the Mass from 10:00am – 11:30am.  For more details please visit curranobrien.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
